VICTORIA CELEBRATES AUSTRALIA'S FIRST ACCREDITED FARMERS' MARKETS

From 15 May shoppers' at Victorian Farmers' Markets will need to add one new item to their shopping lists –  the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association (VFMA) Green Farm Gate Tick the logo that signposts both the market and particular stallholders have been certified under the VFMA's Accreditation Program.

Over 350 farmers and artisan food producers have now also been certified under the program that commenced last year.

To gain the 'Green Tick', individual metropolitan  farmers' markets must trade with at least 90% accredited stallholders; 70% in regional areas.

There are over 70 farmers' markets trading regularly in Victoria producing over $100 million annual income to Victorian food producers.
