Victorian Farmers Market Association AGM

The Victorian Farmers' Market Association (VFMA) is holding an Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 24 October 2006 at 11am at Mayor's Room (1st Floor), Hawthorn Town Hall, 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn.

A draft Charter was developed by the interim VFMA Committee and then, with the assistance of the Victorian Department of Primary Industries, three workshops were held around Victoria in July 2006 to receive feedback about the Charter from interested growers, producers and market managers associated with farmers' markets in Victoria.

With over 100 participants and an estimated 70% of the State's farmers' markets represented, this process allowed the further refinement of the Charter to represent one that the vast majority of participants were agreeable to.

The interim Committee has brought the VFMA to the point where people can join the Association and a Charter has been adopted.

It is now time for you to be actively involved in the Association. At the Annual General Meeting a new VFMA committee will be elected and discussions held on the Association's plans for the next six to twelve months.

Please note in order to comply with the rules of forming an Association, anyone wishing to participate in the committee nomination or voting will be required to pay a nominal Association joining fee of $5.00. This is not a membership fee as details of the membership fee structure will need to be determined by the new VFMA committee.

Please send your nomination forms and VFMA joining forms to Elisa Grassa, VFMA, c/o City of Boroondara, Private Bag 1, Camberwell 3124 together with a cheque for $5.00 made payable to VFMA.
