FarmBis Targeted Industry Initiatives

Release date:
2006-08-13

FarmBis wants to hear from Victorian primary industry groups that are interested in a matching grant to undertake a project related to encouraging or supporting ongoing training in their industry or locality.

"The FarmBis 'Targeted Industry Initiative' program is an opportunity for industry to be well prepared to meet its training needs into the future," FarmBis networker, Janine Dridan said.

Examples of eligible activities that industry groups could look at getting co-funded include development of training plans, identification of barriers to training or conducting skills audits to identify training needs. FarmBis encourages industry groups to contact them with innovative project ideas to approaching training and education.

"We are offering grants of around $10,000 to $20,000 to eligible groups," FarmBis Chairman Ras Lawson said.

"We are also looking for matching funding from the recipient group which can be ‘in kind’ and /or cash. We are prepared to negotiate this and consider larger amounts for really comprehensive or innovative projects that will meet the FarmBis aim of increasing primary producer participation in management training."

Interested industry groups should contact a FarmBis Networker for more information and application details. Applications should be made as soon as possible so projects can be undertaken in the 2006-07 financial year before FarmBis is wound up in Victoria.
